British Travel Awards 2007
Virgin Holidays, part of Sir Richard Branson’s Travel Group has scooped an outstanding four prestigious awards at
the British Travel Awards.
At an impressive award ceremony hosted by leading travel trade newspaper, Travel Trade Gazette
held at Battersea Park last night (Thursday 27th October 2005), Britain’s biggest scheduled tour operator to the USA & Caribbean
was voted winner of four honourable travel awards.
Named ‘Best Tour Operator to USA/Canada,’ Virgin Holidays beat rival
operators such as Thomas Cook and Jetlife to a 31% share of the vote.
In the category for Best Tour Operator to Caribbean, Virgin Holidays again beat rival companies
Kuoni, Thomson and First Choice with a 28% share of the vote to be named winner for 2005.
Having not only been recognised for its work and effort
amongst its trade partners, the tour operator also picked up its third award for Best Package Holiday Company Long
Haul voted by consumers.
The final icing was put on the cake for
Virgin Holidays when Managing Director, Amanda Wills was awarded with the British Travel Award for ‘Travel Industry Personality of the Year’.
The award was presented by Vice President Marketing and Sales for Barbados Tourist Board, Petra Roach recognising the individual
who stands out in the crowd - even in the sea of personalities that make up the British Travel Industry.
It was a successful night for Sir Richard Branson’s Travel Group with its Virgin Flightstore being nominated in
the Best Consolidator section and sister company Virgin Atlantic Airways awarded ‘Best Airline (Economy Class)’ and ‘Best
Scheduled Airline’.
