The SafariThe Safari

View Zambia's wildlife from the air, as you transfer between camps, from an open-topped 4WD as you explore on land, and even from the water, as you glide along the Zambezi in a canoe.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Livingstone
On arrival into Livingstone airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation, on the banks of the Zambezi River for a 2-night stay. The lodge consists of 10 luxury treehouses, built into the living canopy of giant ebony trees which line the bank. Each unit has a private view of the Zambezi from its own deck among the branches. The main lodge building features a spectacular raised bar/lounge deck, open-air dining area, swimming pool and lawns sweeping down to the water's edge. Resident wildlife, such as hippo and elephant, is likely to wander through the Lodge grounds at any time, since they have priority in the National Park. A wide choice of activities adds to the attractions of this elegant, secluded retreat. Overnight: Sussi Lodge. (D)

Day 2: Livingstone
Enjoy a full day in Livingstone - activities available include game drives, walks and visits to view the mighty Victoria Falls. Additional activities that can be booked at an extra cost include white-water rafting, canoeing, sunset cruises, helicopter adventures, horseback safaris and elephant-back safaris. Overnight: Sussi Lodge. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Lower Zambezi National Park
Transfer by light aircraft to Lower Zambezi National Park, your home for the next 2 nights. The park is on the banks of the mighty Zambezi and your time here will be spent viewing game, either from open safari vehicles or on a walk with a professional guide. Overnight: Kulefu Tented Camp. (B/L/D)

Day 4: Lower Zambezi National Park
Wake early this morning for a day spent game viewing. Depart in a canoe and paddle the tranquil waters of the Zambezi River, viewing hippo pods and herds of buffalo and elephant as they come down to the river to drink. Overnight: Kulefu Tented Camp. (B/L/D)

Day 5: South Luangwa National Park
After breakfast, transfer by light aircraft to Mfuwe in South Luangwa National Park. Here you will spend 2 nights at your tented camp. The park is well known for its big game species including leopard, lion and elephant. Overnight: Puku Ridge Tented Camp. (B/L/D)

Day 6: South Luangwa National Park
Wake early for a full day of wildlife spotting in this special sanctuary. Wildlife to be seen in this area includes elephant, lion, wild dog, buffalo, giraffe and a wide variety of antelope. Overnight: Puku Ridge Tented Camp. (B/L/D)

Day 7: South Luangwa - Livingstone
