The USA has a whole range of experiences to offer families
of all ages. From road-trip adventures, to wonderful nature
parks or beach and water-sport fun. Here are some of our
recommendations on the best places for you to go - see the
resort introduction pages for more details.
East-coast touring
Teenagers will love the discovery of a road trip and the East Coast is bursting with activities for young and
old. Treat yourself to a great family touring car and see it all, from nature through to cultural modern cities.
We have some fantastic flydrive tours that take in some of the region's best-known destinations.
New York City
Popular family attractions include the Children's Museum, the American Museum of Natural History and the
Hayden Planetarium. At Christmas it's like a fairy tale - take in the wonder of the Rockefeller Christmas tree and
the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the famous Music Hall. In the summer, beat the heat on Long Island at Splish
Splash Water Park with water cannons, hideaways, rope climbing, slides and more!
Boston
The Freedom Trail offers an educational but fun way to explore the history of the city by foot or public transport.
In the winter, pop to Frog Pond on the common to have a go at ice skating. The New England Aquarium is full of wonderful
exhibits that teach visitors about the waters of the world and the marine life that lives there. The boys will love the
USS Constitution - one of the first US naval ships ever to be commissioned and still the oldest warship afloat in the world.
San Francisco
The San Francisco Bay area offers an array of entertaining, innovative, educational and fun attractions for the
whole family. Angel Island State Park, a short ferry ride from Fisherman's Wharf, has miles of hiking trails and bike
paths (bike rentals are available at Ayala Cove). Visit the newly re-opened California Academy of Science, which houses it's own rainforest and aquarium amongst other things!
National Parks
Western USA holds the natural treasures of Yosemite, Death Valley, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, Grand Canyon and Zion.
Straight from a Wild West film, the kids can get back to nature on a driving tour through real mountain wilderness.
They can even go ranching for a real Taste of Adventure experience.
Los Angeles
An ocean playground, with its 9km of white sand beach, surfing and waterfront attractions. Anaheim hosts Disneyland
Park and Disney's California Adventure Park just outside the city, packed with all the roller coasters and
entertainment you would expect! Great for combining the thrills and spills of a theme park with some relaxation for
mum and dad.
San Diego
San Diego has a warm beach city atmosphere and is a popular destination for US families with its great attractions
like SeaWorld San Diego and LEGOLAND. The San Diego Zoo, with 4,000 animals, is one of the largest in the world, and hosts
some of the rarest specimens in captivity.
Niagara
There's a variety of safe boat tours to take you and the kids up close to the thunderous waters. You can even Journey
Behind The Falls to see the mighty river explode right before your eyes! There are spectacular FREE fireworks over
The Falls every Fri and Sun through the summer. The surrounding lakes and mountains offer plenty of water-based sports
to exhaust the teenagers.
Ski
American and Canadian skiing has the benefit of English-speaking ski schools for the kids. New England is very family
friendly with the bonus of short transfer times, and we offer great child and teen prices there. In Canada try Whistler,
Banff or Tremblant for the best family facilities.
